Updated Advance PDF
6 months ago – Fri, Jul 14, 2017 at 09:05:04 PM

Do you remember when I said I expected glitches? Yeah, I expected glitches. So the advance PDF I sent yesterday had multiple errors in it, but I've sent a new one through Backerkit. The error ridden PDF link won't work now, but there's a new link for you at Backerkit.

My apologies.

Advance PDFs Incoming!
6 months ago – Thu, Jul 13, 2017 at 08:07:32 PM

I have good news: you should be receiving an advance PDF of the completed Sword’s Edge PDF. The not so good news is that distribution of print copies won’t be occurring until September. I had anticipated delays, which did not happen, and now the fulfillment service is very busy with Gen Con, so won’t be able to sit down with me and finalize details until the end of August.

One positive outcome is that if you notice any problems with the PDF, it can be fixed before it goes to print. I am really, really hoping that there won’t be anything major, but since there hasn’t been any glitches so far, I expect there’s going to be.

The advance PDF should be available to your through Backerkit. If you have not completed your survey, I don’t think you’ll be able to get it, but once the survey is completed, it should be waiting for you. Along with the PDF are a hi-resolution and low-resolution character sheets.

If you aren't certain about accessing your Backerkit account, try here:

I’ll update you again at the end of August after print fulfillment has been finalized, and thank you again for your support!

On Time, On Course

Hi All!

Just a quick update to let you know where we are in the process and what you can expect. In summary, we are on track and hitting the expected milestones.

The text is undergoing a second round of edits, which should be complete by the end of June. The book is then laid out in preparation for indexing. The individual I had lined up to complete the indexing has stepped away from the project, but I have a very strong candidate who has expressed an interest, so that should not be an issue. If this leads to any kind of delay, I’ll let you know.

Please note, nine backers have still not completed their Backerkit survey, and until that is done, I’ll be unable to ship books or provide the final PDF.

Thanks again for your support and I look forward to getting the finalized project in your hands.

All the best,

A Week of BackerKit
8 months ago – Fri, May 19, 2017 at 06:46:16 PM

It’s been just over a week since BackerKit surveys were sent out and 89% have been completed. I hope everyone has received their PDFs and those who have purchased print add-ons, those are either in the mail or ready to ship. If anyone has had any issues or has not received what they expected, please don’t hesitate to contact me through Kickstarter. We’ll figure it out.

The text is with the editor right now and once that is done, it will be plugged back into the same layout used for the Ashcan Edition. With the PDF set, it will be sent to the indexer. It is certainly possible to receive the un-indexed PDF if you are interested. Drop me a line and let me know and I will get you a link for that once it is ready.

Finally, if you are in Ottawa for CanGames this weekend (19 May to 21 May), I’ll be spending time at the Ottawa Story Games booth and will be running a session of “Lawless Heaven” both Saturday at 1400 and Sunday at 0900.

Thank you again for your support.

Stay frosty!

One for the Win Column

I’ve written it before and I’ll write it again: thank you so much for your support. When I shared with you all Plan B, I honestly had concerns with our ability to fund. The last couple of days was amazing and humbling. I greatly appreciate the trust you have put in me.

Update 13 “We Did It” did a good job of outlining the way forward, so I am just going to fill in some of the blanks.

Scott Vandervalk, who edited Nefertiti Overdrive, has agreed to edit Sword’s Edge, and we have already started working on that. I don’t want to provide any names until everything is agreed, but I have an indexer who has agreed in principle to index Sword’s Edge. Once everything is agreed, I’ll let you know who that collaborator will be. I’ve also been in touch with a fulfillment service for shipping.

In two weeks, once the payment process is complete, I’ll be putting Backerkit into motion. Delivery of virtual rewards and requests for required information – such as addresses – will be through Backerkit. If you’ve backed a Kickstarter before, there’s a good chance you’ve dealt with this service before.

So, while most of the work is done for me, there’s organizing and project management. I’ll update you as we hit milestones and I am always here to answer your questions and address your concerns.

Thank you again and all the best.

Stay Frosty!
